KXIP opened the innings with Nitin Saini and Paul Valthaty but the poor run continued as they both got out when the tae score was just 27. Australian duo Shaun Marsh and David Hussey then steadied the innings as they both scored 26 runs off 17 balls and 41 runs off 34 balls respectively. Finally the cameo of Azhar Mahmood (33 from 14 balls) helped KXIP post a total of 163/8 in 20 overs.
Chasing 164 to win, RCB lost three quick wickets and just when it looked the game is changing in KXIP’s favor, the most explosive batsmen in world cricket, Chris Gayle took the charge. He smashed 87 from 56 balls and along with AB de Villiers who scored 52 from 39 took the team towards a superb 5 wicket win.
