R Uthappa and J Ryder gave Pune a superb start as they added 63 runs in 7 overs for the first wicket partnership. J Ryder got out after scoring 34 runs off 22 balls (4×4,1×6) but R Uthappa continued to smash RCB bowlers as he scpred 69 runs off 45 balls (9×4,2×6). Ganguly failed once again but some good hitting by M Samuels 34 off 20 balls (1×4,2×6) in the end helped Pune Warriors post a total of 182/6 in 20 overs.
Chasing 183 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore got a big shock when T Dilshan got out in the third over when the team score was just 7. C Gayle and M Agarwal then had a 35 run partnership before Agarwal got out after scoring just 9 runs. Virat Kohli also failed to deliver as he was out after scoring just 16. But RCB still had hope as Gayle was firm on one end and was scoring runs with ease. RCB needed 120 to win from their last 10 overs and the team was relying on Chris Gayle who scored 5 sixes in Sharma’s one over. Just when the game was being shifted in RCB’s favor, Gayle was bowled by Nehra. AB de Villiers was the next batsmen in and he along with Tiwary took the team inches away from victory. RCB needed 28 to win from last 2 overs but Dinda bowled beautifully and gave just 7 runs in 19th over. RCB needed 21 to win from last over and AB de Villiers smashed a four followed by two sixes and on the last bowl Tiwary hit a six to get a superb win for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
