The much awaited IPL auction began in the morning with Richard Madley explaining the auction procedure and rules to all the existing eight franchises (Pune Warriors Quit just few minutes ago).
146 players are available for 36 positions. At 11.02 – Rajiv Shukla , the current IPL chairman opened the auction.
The first player to get sold is New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum at a whopping price of US $900,000 to the Kolkata Knight Riders.
England fast bowler James Anderson with a base price of $300,000 becomes the first unsold player in ipl 5 auction.
Sri Lanka’s spinning legend Muttiah Muralitharan is bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for $220,000
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is bought by Chennai Super Kings for a $2 million after a tie breaker.
Mahela Jayawardene bought by Delhi Daredevils for $1.4 million.

Australian batsman Brad Hodge was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for $475,000.

India’s wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel was purchased by Deccan Chargers for $650,000 (the highest price among the wicketkeepers)
Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal bought by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of $50,000.
South African star Mark Boucher, England’s Matt Prior and Zimbabwe’s Brendon Taylor went unsold.
West Indian all rounder Andre Russell bought by Delhi Daredevils for $450,000.
Australian Mitchell Johnson bought by Mumbai Indians for $300,000.
Australia’s Steve Smith, England’s Luke Wright, Ravi Bopara, New Zealand’s Doug Bracewell, Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien, South African Justin Kemp, West Indians Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Smith remained unsold.
Indian Left-arm pacer Rudra Pratap Singh was purchased by Mumbai Indians for $600,000.
India fast bowler R Vinay Kumar bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a $1 million.
India pacer S Sreesanth was bought by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of $400,000.
Australia’s Peter Siddle, West Indian Ravi Rampaul and New Zealand’s Tim Southee were unsold.
Australia’s Brad Hogg was sold to Rajasthan Royals for $180,000
Mumbai spinner Ramesh Powar went to Kings XI Punjab for $160,000.
West Indies spinner Sunil Narine was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for $700,000.
