Today in the 30th match of IPL season 5, Rajasthan Royals chose to field first after winning the toss. RCB got a big shock when the in form Gayle fell sick just minutes before the match. V Kohli and T Dilshan opened the innings but could not give a flying start to RCB as Kohli got out after scoring just 16 runs. M Agarwal and T Dilshan then took the team score to 60 in 9.4 overs before getting out. Chris Gayle also felt cheaply leaving RCB struggling at 67/3 in 11.4 overs. But T Dilshan and AB de Villiers hammered RR bowlers and added 122 runs in 8.2 overs. AB de Villiers scored 59 off just 23 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes. T Dilshan also scored a brilliant 76 off 58 balls which included 10 fours and a six. Royal Challengers Bangalore were finally able to score 189/3 in 20 overs.
Chasing 190 to win, Rajasthan Royals started with Rahul Dravid and A Rahane. The duo added 56 runs in 7.1 overs before Rahane got out to K Appanna. After this wicket felt, K Appanna wrecked through the top order of Rajasthan as he got the wickets of Owais Shah, S Goswami and Dravid in quick succession leaving RR struggling at 91/4 in 13.1 overs. Rajasthan Royals lost the plot after Dravid’s wicket and the required rate jumped beyond Rajasthan’s reach and they could manage just 143/7 in 20 overs and thus they lost the match by 46 runs.
